Risks of falling and fall-related problems rise with age. However, many falls can be prevented. For example, exercising, managing your medications, having your vision checked, and making your home safer are all steps you can take to prevent a fall.
- Wait for assistance.
- Do not walk in socks.
- Look around you.
- Go slow.
- Turn on the lights.
- Wear your glasses.
- Tell your healthcare team if you have fallen before.
- Take caution if medications make you dizzy or drowsy.
