Memory Care

Memory care (MC) is a form of in-home long-term care service that QCP provides. Some of these services could include intensive (sometimes one-to-one) specialized care for people with memory concerns, for example:

  • Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia. It is a progressive disease that starts off with mild memory loss and possibly leads to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. Alzheimer’s affects parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. Our nurses are trained to assist you or your loved ones.
  • Dementia is not a specific disease but rather a general term for the impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interfere with everyday activities. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia and our nurses are more than equipped to assist you or your loved ones with remembering.  Dementia mostly affects older adults and it is not a part of normal aging.
  • Parkinson’s is a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and the parts of the body controlled by the nerves. Symptoms start slowly. The first symptom may be a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. Tremors are common, but the disorder may also cause stiffness or slowing of movement.
  • Lewy body dementia, also known as dementia with Lewy bodies or Lewy Body Disease, is the second most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer’s disease. Protein deposits, called Lewy bodies, develop in the nerve cells of the brain regions. These deposits affect thinking, memory, and movement, meaning (motor control).
